Creature of Habit

For five years, Habit proprietor Lindsey Boland designed and sold clothing under her Superficial, Inc. label to boutiques in Brooklyn and Portland, Oregon. She was a bit shocked to discover Chicago didn't have the same outlets for young designers, so her new shop focuses on start-up labels. The mahogany-tinged space features handmade clothing such as silk charmeuse dresses ($400) from Gayle met Glenn and Dolan Geiman's reconstructed pieces ($85-$150). "Most of the designers are exclusive to the shop," says Boland—making Habit a smart stop for discovering the undiscovered. 1951 W Division St between Wolcott and Damen Aves (773-342-0093)—John Dugan
