is this site secure?

Any personal information given to habitchicago.com will be protected. Your information will not be disclosed to any third parties. In order to protect customers to the fullest extent, habit does not store your credit card information at any time.

how do I place my order?

  1. Browse through the site until you find the item you wish to purchase.
  2. From the product page, select the size and/or color you’d like and then the click “add to your cart” button.
  3. This will take you to your shopping cart. If you would like to keep shopping, press the “continue shopping” button near the bottom. This will close the window and return you to the item you were looking at.
  4. Once you have added all the items that you wish to purchase to your cart, you can begin the checkout process. Click the Cart/Checkout link in the top right corner of your window. This will take you to paypal's secure checkout where you will be guided through the process. You will receive an order confirmation email. When your order has been shipped, you will receive an e-mail with final shipping details.

Note: Items are only set aside for shipping once you have completed the purchase process.  Simply adding an item to you shopping cart will not guarantee that the item will be available for purchase at a later time.

how can I change my order?

Requested order changes can be emailed to orders@habitchicago.com. Notify habit of any potential changes immediately.  We attempt to ship promptly and your request for changes can not be honored if your original order has already been processed or shipped.

how do you charge sales tax?

Sales tax is charged only to states where habitchicago.com has a physical presence. Currently this includes:

Illinois which is 10.25% as of 4/1/2008

Sales tax is not charged on gift card shipments.

what if the item i want is sold out?

Although we try to keep our web site current, due to the nature of designer small runs, many of our pieces are produced in limited quantities and we may sell out of certain products and sizes. If we are out of stock on an item you have ordered, we will notify you via e-mail. Any changes will be reflected in your order total as well as your shipping confirmation.

what is your shipping policy?

Customers pay for all shipping costs. Rates are determined by weight and destination at time of purchase. Shipping costs will be added before All domestic orders are shipped via UPS.Habitchicago.com does not ship to multiple addresses per order, ship to p.o. boxes, or apo/fpo addresses. Orders are processed Tuesday through Saturday excluding holidays. Shipping times may vary due to availability of merchandise. Orders are not delivered on the weekends or federal holidays.

do you ship internationally?

Yes. International orders are shipped UPS. Make your purchase and the shipping rates will be determined by weight and destination. We do not cover taxes or duty on international shipments.

what is your return/exchange policy?

All returns must be made within 7 days of the date the UPS shipment is accepted by the addressee . Merchandise must be returned with all original tags attached, unwashed, unworn, and unaltered. All sale items are final sale and not eligible for return.

Upon receipt of returned merchandise, habit has the right to deny credits if the goods do not meet the return policy requirements. Please refer to “how do i return an item” for specific instructions.

If an exchange on an item is necessary for a different size we would be happy to issue a refund and request that you purchase the desired item through the web site as a separate transaction. Please see below for the correct return procedure.

how do i return an item?

All returns must be made within 7 days of the date the UPS shipment is accepted by the addressee . Merchandise must be returned with all original tags attached, unwashed, unworn, and unaltered. All sale items are final sale.

Returns must be authorized by habitchicago.com. All returned goods must have a Return Authorization Number number.  Return Authorization Numbers can be obtained by emailing us at returns@habitchicago.com or by calling 773-342-0093.  The Return Authorization Number is required on the return form and must be legibly written outside of the return package.  All unidentified returns will be returned to sender.

Please be aware that the issuance of Return Authorization Number does not guarantee the goods will be accepted, nor that your credit card will automatically be refunded. You will be notified of acceptance once the goods have been returned and inspected. Goods that do not meet our return policy conditions will be sent back to the customer.

Sale merchandise is NOT returnable under any conditions.

Upon receipt of a Return Authorization Number from habitchicago.com complete the merchandise return/exchange form (sent with original package) and enclose with your return.

All articles that belong to the same order must be returned to us at the same time in one single shipment. Pack and securely seal the merchandise, in the original package, mark your RA# on the outside of the box. Ship postage-paid and insured to:

Habit will not accept responsibility for reimbursement or compensation of lost packages without proof of delivery. Please also note that Habit does not accept any packages that are sent Cash/Check on Delivery (COD).

When your return is received, we will credit the same credit card account with which the original purchase was made. We will process your return as soon as possible but please allow up to 2-weeks for your refund to be processed and up to two billing cycles for the return to appear on your credit card statement.

can i return/ exchange my items to a habit retail store?

Yes, you can return or exchange any item you bought on the site at our brick and mortar store. Habit does not reimburse shipping on any items.

what is your policy on privacy?

We respect your right to privacy. Habitchicago.com collects only the information necessary for us to complete your order or to contact you regarding the status of your order. The information we collect includes your name, email address, shipping address, and billing address. Habit does not store your credit card information.

Habit will not rent or sell your name or personal information.

Habitchicago.com reserves the right to update this privacy policy at anytime. updates to our privacy policy will be sent to the email address that you have provided us.

Habit holds sales twice a year. In August, join us for our anniversary sale. During February all clothing is discounted.

Items on sale are final sale and therefore may not be returned or exchanged. The original quality of an sale item may have been compromised by floor display and has been factored into the sale price. Any imperfections will be noted in the description. Although this is not common, please be aware of the possibility. Although we try our hardest to keep all of our goods in perfect condition there may be small flaws, stains, sewing errors, missing tags, etc.

how do gift certificates work?

Purchasing a gift certificate:
You can add a gift certificate to your cart from the main gift certificate page.

Upon placing your order, the gift certificate(s) will be mailed to the recipients.  The sender will receive an email confirming the gift has been sent.

Redeeming a gift certificate:
Customers can use their gift code to purchase items from the habitchicago.com store. During the checkout process customers have the option of using a gift code for payment. In the event that the gift code’s value does not cover the total cost of the order, the customer will need to provide their credit card information to cover the remaining balance. In the event that the order total is less than the value of the gift code, the remaining gift code balance will be available for future purchases.
